2016/17 Website Officer: Tom Poon
I am the Website Officer for Castle JCR this year, looking after the lovely site that you’re currently staring at. It also means that if there are any faults on the site, it’s likely down to me or the Computer Officer, Andrew. Sorry.
That being said, our aim for this site is essentially to serve as a complete hub of everything our college community has passionately created past and present, from a collection of all the websites of our brilliant balls to a small insight into our work with the wider community in the city of Durham. Plus all the little details about our college a (perhaps rather excitable) prospective student could ever want.
Aside from this, I’m an Entertainment Co-ordinator for the upcoming June Ball 2017, and a member of the Technical Committee here ensuring our wonderful events sound and look spectacular – using these limited skills in dabbling into the Durham Student Theatre scene also. Oh, my course – reading Engineering at the university. I’m lucky to be one of the student guides somehow providing tours of our Castle to the public, allowing me to satiate my appetite of curiosity on almost a thousand years of history of this wonderful building. I’m currently working with Palace Green library to find the earliest versions of our Standing Orders to archive here on the website for all to access.
So if you have any more pages to add on your college society/event, any old fascinating resources you’ve found on the web, or the inevitable notification of outdated info on a page: please do give me a kick on firstname.lastname@example.org . We’d love to make this the go-to location for everything you can find about Castle and any suggestions to make this website as useful as possible are completely and utterly welcome.
