Unions and Societies Officer

Unions and Societies Officer: James Wilson (He/Him)

The USO is primarily responsible for the day to day running of the clubs and societies within Castle, including financing and promoting teams and events that they put on, and running student-led events such as Castle-Hatfield Day, Give it a Go week and the College Festival of Sport. The USO is also the link between Castle and university-wide institutions, such as Team Durham, Experience Durham and the Durham Students’ Union (DSU).

I’m James, the new Unions and Societies Officer for the coming year, and I’m a 4th year Biomedical Sciences student. I did a placement year in my 3rd year so I’d be happy to chat to you about placements. I play college football and cricket. My favourite castle memory is playing for the college football club in the Floodlit Cup. In this tournament you get to play all college football teams and these games typically encourage large supporting crowds that help cheer us on with college chants.

If you have any questions about any of the above, or anything at all, feel free to get in touch via Facebook, email me at castle.uso@durham.ac.uk.
