University College Rugby Football Club (UCRFC) is a proud and illustrious group who like nothing more than to fling a ball around with a few mates and occasionally win matches. While we do compete at a competitive level in the top league, the club is just as much a social hub, with players and social members meeting regularly to enjoy each others company on and off the pitch. A particular testament to the spirit of the club is what the Alumni have to say, when looking back on their time at UCRFC:
Training: Wednesday afternoons (2-4ish) – location tbc
Matches: Sunday afternoon/ evening
Season: Michaelmas & Epiphany Terms
The Rugby club trains or plays matches twice a week. The standard of rugby in the premiership is high
and challenging, nevertheless we welcome players of all abilities to train and play with us. At the top end of the scale we have had former University 2nd team players drop down to play for us while at the other end we usually have at least one complete beginner join the club. While we are obviously competitive our main aim is to enjoy our rugby and the best way to get an idea of what we’re all about is simply to turn up to a couple of training sessions or a social or two. To reiterate, you are welcome whatever your ability or experience
On the social front we have a wide range of events throughout the
year, even after the end of the season, and they are widely regarded as the best social events in college, whatever the footballers might try and tell you. Indeed they’re so good that we have a number of purely social members.
Any questions, queries or interest in playing – don’t hesitate to get in touch with either the Club or Team Captains.
