University College Cricket Club (UCCC)

University College Cricket Club is undoubtedly one of the most exciting clubs at Castle. As a side, we emphasise having fun and being good blokes above being overly serious.

The calendar at UCCC:

  • In Epiphany (2nd) term we compete in the indoor cricket league. This is a 6-a-side competition which is a great bit of fun and something new for a few of our players. Socials also tend to follow each of the games which is just another reason to get involved.
  • In Easter (3rd) term as the weather gets warmer, we migrate outside. We practice once or twice a week in the nets (grass and astro); these sessions are usually very relaxed and a good way to meet people whilst relieving some exam stress.
  • There is also a competitive T20 college league where we play 5 teams and (if we qualify) compete in a finals’ day on the Racecourse. This is played against other college cricket clubs.
  • There are also various ‘exhibition fixtures’ in our calendar against local teams as well as some traditional friendlies such as our annual games against UCRFC and Hatfield CCC.
  • We value off the pitch performance just as highly as on field accolades. Our highly active social calendar puts on well attended, organised affairs, rooted in the tradition of UCCC such as the inaugural Leather & Willow Invitational. We have a rather large number of purely social members so don’t be afraid to get involved.

We welcome members with any level of experience: good cricketers, keen cricketers, people who are just up for a net, or absolute beginners. Getting involved is easy for all genders, just contact one of the team captains (below).
