Senior Student

Senior Student: Henry Beckley

The Senior Student is the head of the JCR and has three main duties – first, they lead and support the Executive Committee, the group that is responsible for the day-to-day running of all parts of the JCR. Secondly, the Senior Student represents the undergraduate body of Castle within University College to groups such as the MCR, the SCR, College Office, College Council or Durham Castle Society.

Thirdly and finally, the Senior Student ensures that the views of the JCR are heard by the Durham Students’ Union and the University, as well as being the face of the JCR to those outside the Durham University community.

Hello! My name is Henry and I am Castle’s 2018-2019 Senior Student. I am a third year Earth Sciences student from Somerset and have been involved in the Welfare team, Rugby and Rowing squads, Undercroft Committee, and Ents over the last two years. There is so much to get involved with in Castle, so do as much as you possibly can! You will not regret it and it is a great chance to socialise and meet the rest of the college.
