JCR Meetings are when we come together as a college to discuss important college and university issues, elect Non-executive and College Servant positions listed in the standing orders, and ensure that the Executive Committee and these officers are running the college to the best possible degree. At JCR Meetings, any issue that is important to any member of the JCR can be put forward to the Executive Committee.
For all their importance, the meetings are good fun and well attended! We provide free pizza and soft drinks, and there is always a raffle for a £10 Undercroft bar tab. Perhaps the best parts are the nominations of the highly esteemed positions known as College Servants, which are perhaps some of the least serious and most illustrious JCR positions.
The JCR meetings for the 2022/23 academic year shall take place on:
To Be Confirmed.
For a summary list of all the roles scheduled to be elected at the meetings, please see Elections and Selections.
For results on elections from every JCR Meeting- from the latest meeting, backdating to November 2014, please see our University College Elections Website.
If you would like to submit an agenda point please don’t hesitate to submit them to castle.viceseniorstudent@durham.ac.uk. Formal agenda points should be submitted at least one week in advance, and no later than 3 days before the meeting to ensure that the agendas can be printed in time. A motion may be proposed during the meeting, however, these may be deferred to the next meeting at the discretion of the Senior Student.
