CCA President: Mala Pandit
CCA President is the head of the Castle Community Action committee which facilitates the various outreach programs for the JCR. The President is responsible for overseeing the regular volunteering projects that Castle students run, as well as liaising with outside bodies like UNESCO and the Durham World Heritage Site team to get Castle students really integrated into the wider Durham community.
We have four divisions which run regular projects during term time, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Homelessness and Elderly Care and Heritage Management as well as our Community Day division which runs 1 -2 one off events per term. If you think you might be interested in getting involved, or just want to find out more about the opportunities within CCA, feel free to get in touch, or look at the ‘Castle Community Action‘ tab under ‘Extracurricular’ for more information!
(More information can be found in the Standing Orders, W10.113a p.49)
I’m Mala, the CCA President for this coming year. I help organise and oversee the various volunteering and outreach projects that Castle students undertake to benefit the local communities within and around Durham. I study BSc Geography – nope, there is no colouring involved! – and have been involved in various aspects of college and Durham life eg. Ents, June Ball Committee, Bar and Toastie Bar, CCFS (Fashion show), DU Concert Band, – so feel free to ask me about anything!
If you want to get in touch with any questions or ideas for CCA, you can email me at email@example.com.
